Community Spotlight: Walter Jones

A unique feature of the Liberty Bank Building development is a commitment to hiring women and minority subcontractors on the project. Meeting the project’s goals depends on a strong partnership with the community. Africatown-Central District Preservation & Development Association has been an integral part of that process. This includes support for small and minority owned businesses working on the project, led by Walter Jones.

Jones works one on one with minority subcontractors. “I provide technical assistance to subs as part of Africatown’s commitment to small business,” says Jones. “I make sure everything runs smoothly and we get the job done.” Jones is also working with subcontractors whose bids were not accepted on the first phase the Liberty Bank Building project to get them ready for the next phase of construction.
